The purpose of share investing is to get dividend yield and/or capital gains. To get capital gains, we invest in shares that have great potential for price increases. And the question is, how do we find such shares?

This is a intermediate level course specially crafted for anyone who would like to make a well-informed investment decision supported by in-depth analysis. Participants will be able to derive the fair value of companies with a professional method and thus be able to invest with more confidence.

Learning Outcomes

From a Fundamental Analysis perspective, the price of shares increase because of the following reasons:

  1. Profits of the company are expected to increase
  2. Price of shares is currently below its intrinsic value

This program is specially crafted to demonstrate the investment techniques used to seek out shares with high capital-gain potential based on the 2 reasons stated above. After this course, participants can:

  1. Understand what growth stocks are and how to find them
  2. Use a simplified Discounted Cashflow technique to find intrinsic value of the company and hence be able to ascertain if the current share price is undervalued
  3. Perform ratio analysis to assess the credit risk for investing in such shares

Course Outline

1. Growth Shares
Know what growth shares are and how to identify them. You will learn a technique to sift the potential ones out and how to verify their potential for growth. High return usually comes with high risk. You will learn strategies to manage these risks.

2. Understanding Discounted Cashflow
